I do not think that Hamurrabi's Code was fair. I don't think so because a lot of his punishments are harsh. One law states that if a son hits his father, his hands get cut off. That is not fair because the son could die from blood loss or infection, even though he didn't commit a grave misdemeanor. The father should be able to hit the son back as the punishment. Another says that if a surgeon operates on a seriously injured man and is the cause of his death, his hands get cut off too! The man was already in critical condition, and the operator would not be the entire cause of the man's death. Instead the surgeon should be fined. Last, the epilogue states that if a future ruler decides to alter his laws, a curse shall be put upon his family, subjects, soldiers, and his troops. If anyone should get cursed, its the king. The people being cursed are innocent! The king could be trying to make the laws fair, and everyone he loved would be cursed. As you can see, these laws show that Hammurabi's laws are unfair.

I do not think Hammurabi's laws were fair. I say this because the punishment for these laws were extremely harsh. For example: If a son hit his dad, his hands shall be cut off. That is not fair because the son could lose his life from blood loss, or infection. Also the son might lose his life for something that wasn't a grave crime. The dad should be allowed to strike his son back or disinherit him . Another example is when a future king changes Hammurabi's laws, his family, land, warriors, subjects, and troops shall be cursed. That isn't fair because innocent people would be punished for 1 man's actions. Also, what if he was making them better or more fair? The king and his loved ones would be cursed for a good deed, and that's just not fair. But there were some laws that were fair like the one when a father wants to disinherit his son and the son hasn't comitted a serious crime, the father can't disinherit his son. I say this becouse the law is protecting the son. If the son didn't do anything wrong, then he will stay in the family and that's fair. But overall, I believe that Hammurabi's code was unjust.

I don't think that Hammurabi's code was just. I think Hammurabi's code was not fair because if a son struck his father his hand's are going to get cutoff. the father should be able to hit the son back.Another law is that if a future king doesn't follow Hammurabi's law, he will put a curse on his family, warriors, land and troops.that is not fair because the people who didn't do anything will pay for the future king's action.A last law that isn't fair is if a surgeon operates on a free man and causes his death, there hands will get cutoff. If the surgeons hands get cutoff he will no longer be able to operate and if the operator is bad than he will not only lose his hands but his license, and job. this is why i think Hammurabi's code was not just.

Yes and No i do think that Hammurabi's code was fair.Yes it was fair because if a son hits there dad they should cut there hands off. It is also fair because if you go and rob a house you should be put to death. No Hammurabi's code was not fair because if someone knock the eye of a free man they should knock their eye out and i think they should go to jail instead of knocking their eye out .I also think it is not fair because no father should disinherit his so if you had him now you need to take care of him no matter what he dose he is your son.

I do not think that Hammurabi's code was just [fair] because when I was reading the laws I notice that a lot of these laws had a lot of harsh punishments. For example if a son hit his father his hands would be cut off but what if the son was defending himself or what if the father was hitting the sons mother and decicded to hit the father to defend his mom [from Mrs.gusftson]. Another example is when a man see's a robbery but has no proof then they would be put to death but now today if you see a robbery and there's no evidence then the police will escort the people in the court instead of being killed for having no evidence. So to end this blog what do you think was Hammurabi's code just or not.=]

I don't think that Hammurabi's Code Was Just. I don't think Hammurabi's Code Was Just because if an surgon couldn't save your life then hes not only going to lose his job hes also going to lose his hands. Another one of Hammaurabi Code that wasen't fair was that if a son hits his father his hand will also be cutoff. The son could of hit the his dad because of self defence or it could just be an accident

Hammurabi's code was never fare or just since started. Theirs no need to kill people. Neither hanging people or cutting there hands off at all. I mean cant there be another punishment like discipline, the gallows, or any other ideas like jails. What i"m trying to say is that this is wrong. No one is supposed to die for a dumb mistake or action. In this time of period it would be illegal to kill someone for a bad idea or action. But for that it would just be a day or more at prison. And that is what helps me prove that Hammurabi's code not at all just.

I think Hammurabi's laws was not fair people should not get there hands cut off or die because of certain laws. In our time we don't have a law that we have to do that we die for.We just get put us in jail.

I don't think Hammurabi's code was fair. The punishments were cruel and laws were unfair. One even said if a surgeon failed to help a injured person he would get his hands cut of. What if he was the best surgeon in the world and his patieant would of died, with surgery or not. All of the actions would fall into the surgeons hands and eventually he won't have any. This law shouldent have a punishment at all, IF he tried. If he didnt try and fooled around with a fate of another mans life Then his hands should kiss his hands goodbye. As you can see Hammurabi's code wasn't fair. Thats my opinoin.

I dont think Hammarabi's code was fair. I dont think it's fair because a lot of the punishment's are cruel. One law says if a son hit's his dad his hands will be cut off. Thats not fair because the son can die from an infection, and the son did'nt cause death. Instead the dad should hit the son back, ground him, or disinheret him as a punishment. Another say's if you cause a indisposed free man's the surgeon shall get his hand's cut off! The free man was already indisposed condition's, so the operator won't be the entire fault of his death. Instead the surgeon should be charged or fired. last the epilogue states that if the future ruler disobey's one of Hammurabi's laws he will inflect a curse upon his family, subject's,soldier's,and troop's. the only person who should be cursed is the king or ruler. the people being cursed are not to be blamed on. As you can see Hammurabi's law's are unfair.
